Yes of course we're much better off than under those Labour cunts Blair, Brown, Prescott, Balls, Cooper et al. Not an honest cell in any of their bodies and yet still people vote for those fuckers.

Re: An extra year of Tory rule
One of the interesting side effects of a Yes vote (that will never happen, unfortunately) is that it will require a realignment of left and right. It's too simple to say Labour will never get back in.

What is likely to happen, and probably a real double edged sword for the cause of democracy in England, is that the centre left will dissolve and reform itself. That would mean the end of Labour and, in all likelihood, the Lib Dems too as most of them are instinctively liberal to create a new centre left/liberal party. There would be advantages to both parties in this, not least that neither of them is likely to get a sniff at power ever again unless they come together in something new.

This could be attractive as the loss of the 'Labour' brand will diminish the residual tribalism where 'Labour' and 'Conservative' brands have people that would NEVER vote for them, under any circumstances.

This would create a powerful Social Democratic party (well done David Owen, turns out you were right just 30 years too early) with real clout and in itself a powerful centrist party. Plus it would allow Labour to finally rid itself of the toxic link to the unions, although Bob Crow conking out did them, and the rest of us, a favour.

This would actually give the Conservatives a real headache. The prospect of perpetual power would be tempered by a centrist SD party taking everything from the left centre and UKIP hoovering up their right wing support.

The only logical conclusion would be a shift to the right and an alliance with UKIP, which would mean a shift from the centre would actually could result in perpetual centrist left governments for what's left of the UK.

I can't wait and I hope the sweaties vote yes. It could be the fundamental democratic realignment this country needs.

If the scots vote Yes the government effectively becomes null and void because there will be no country to govern. The UK will not exist and nor will great britain. It will be time for England to rise from the ashes with a fresh set of elections for its own people.

The problem Labour have is that they've spent most of the time saying how cuts are bad and will ruin the economy and generally just saying they'll throw money at the problem.

Unfortunately, since the IMF has changed its mind and said that cuts have been useful for the economy, Labour has lost most of its own argument.

Not to mention all the tax cuts for the low paid workers who Labour kindly raises the tax rate for a few years back.

Re: An extra year of Tory rule
Our democratic system needs rebooting whether or not the Scots choose independence.

We need to drastically cut the number of MPs. If we cut them by half and double their salaries it would be cost effective. Parliamentary sessions and business hours need to move into the 21st century too. In addition to that the second House [ the Lords ] needs to either be disbanded or decimated and turned into an elected chamber not one populated by means of political patronage.

There is a lot wrong with our democracy. A big indicator of this being that to many of the electorate cannot distinguish much difference between the three main parties. Sadly though Farage has this " we are different we listen to people" shtick he belies this by parachuting in the resigned tory Carswell to the Clacton by election flagrantly ignoring the local UKIP activists and their candidate of choice.

SLC.

Sadly, you've got a very romantic and misguided concept of what the Labour Party actually are these days.

They give money to peopel who need it? Dear oh fucking dear. They absolutely destroyed the welfare state by doing exactly the opposite. Any lazy cunt or economic migrant got benefits under them and it crippled the country. We'll struggle for years because of the Labour government's incompetetence or cynical ulterior motives. I'm all for Socialism if it's applied properly but it's too late for that now. You really do need to be a bit thick to want Milliband and the Labour Party to be in power.

The man is about as useful as a radio with no speakers.

Labour spend money on people who need it and not lining the pockets of the already wealthy.

This current government has picked on the poor and disabled while filling personal coffers with tax cuts and the selling of Royal Mail for a song.

'Your beloved Tories have borrowed MORE than all the Labour governments put together, so much for trusting them with the economy.'

How would Labour have elimination the vast budget deficit they left behind in 4 years, mate? What exactly would they have cut? Or what specific spending would have caused the economy to instantly grow by the about 10% pa needed to have such an effect without cutting. Because unless you can tell me how they would have done that, the above piece of sloganising is meaningless.
